Monty's Bar - pacta sunt servanda
agreements must be kept
The most important issues facing Americans today are the security of our nation and what Civilization and Culture we will pass to future generations.
Monty's Bar is my way of addressing these issues.
My political philosophy can best be described as classical liberalism, the belief in liberty, and that foundation shapes my views, opinions and discussions.
I am most concerned with security and terrorism issues in historical and current events contexts. I consider economic, culture, and boarder control among others to be security issues and will try to show how these issues are linked to our security.

Walter E. Williams : Americans Love Government - Townhall.com
"According to latest Rasmussen Reports, 30 percent of Americans believe congressmen are corrupt. Last year, Congress' approval rating fell to 9 percent, its lowest in history. If the average American were asked his opinion of congressmen, among the more polite terms you'll hear are thieves and crooks, liars and manipulators, hustlers and quacks. But what do the same people say when our nation faces a major problem? 'Government ought to do something!' When people call for government to do something, it is as if they've been befallen by amnesia and forgotten just who is running government. It's the very people whom they have labeled as thieves and crooks, liars and manipulators, hustlers and quacks."

Jonah Goldberg : Plan to Combat Global Warming? Pie in the Sky - Townhall.com
"Historian Steven Hayward notes that in 1966, Lyndon Johnson's commander in the War on Poverty, Sargent Shriver, told Congress that the White House believed poverty in America would be eliminated within 10 years. "Why," Hayward wryly asks, "should social science be more difficult than rocket science?"
I don't know that one is more difficult than the other, but I do know that they are not interchangeable. Physics is good at figuring out how to split atoms. Sociology, not so much."
"Now, I am more skeptical about the threat of global warming than Manzi is, never mind the Al Gore chorus. But let us assume the chorus is right and it is the moral equivalent of a war for our very survival as a civilization. The question remains: Why? Why this approach? Why see global warming as an excuse to expand government regulation and taxation rather than invest in problem-solving?
The U.S. government could spend trillions on research into scrubbing carbon from the air, bioengineering organisms to eat greenhouse gases or crafting substances to reflect more heat back into space. We could establish prizes for development of long-life batteries or clean coal technologies. And if any of these investments paid off, decades from now the benefits would still dwarf Waxman-Markey at a fraction of the cost. It hardly takes a rocket scientist to see that."

Ben Shapiro : The Liberal War on Science - Townhall.com
"According to virtually all scientific studies concerning adolescent neural mechanisms, teens are biologically incapable of inhibiting risky behavior. “(T])e major sources of death and disability in adolescence are related to difficulties in the control of behavior and emotion,” explains Ronald E. Dahl, Staunton Professor of Psychiatry and Pediatrics at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center." "despite the fact that teenagers are smart enough to recognize the dangers of risky behavior, their brains ignore the risks when things get hot. Thus, teenagers are morons."

Civilization and Culture.
Some are uninformed and simply do not know about the forces arrayed against them. These are members of the Ovis family.
Some become fixated on the obvious risk and fail to notice the hidden danger. These are members of the Capra family.
Many actively seek to remain uninformed, refusing to accept what their eyes and ears are telling them. Herds stampede for no reason. Individuals can be easily snagged by any passing predator. These are members of the Bovinae family.
A few are informed, accept what their eyes and ears tell them, stay apart from the herd, do not fixate on obvious risk and are acutely aware of the hidden danger. These are members of the Canid family. They attempt to alert the other families to the lurking dangers; are usually called fools and worse for their efforts.
